Mixed feelings greet NURTW fare reduction in Bayelsa

The announcement of a fifty per cent slash in transport fares by the National Union of Road and Transport Workers for people travelling to vote in Saturday’s rescheduled elections has been received with mixed feelings in Yenagoa, Bayelsa state.

State chairman of Bayelsa NURTW, ThankGod Eribo while speaking on the gesture which is being commended in many quarters, said measures are being put in place to ensure full compliance.

Others, however, expressed a divergent view of the transport union's benevolence. According to them, the impact would not be felt as most areas in Bayelsa state can only be accessed by boats.

The fare reduction by the NURTW is expected to take effect from Thursday to Monday next week.
