FG launches facility to boost rubber production, urges collaboration
The Federal Government has launched a prototype rubber sheet processing factories in Edo and Delta States to assist small scale rubber farmers in adding value to their products.
It also called for more collaboration with relevant stakeholders in the rubber industry, with a view to exploring the economic potentials of the agricultural commodity for national development.
Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Dr. Shehu Ahmed, while commissioning rubber sheet processing and effluent management factories at the Rubber Research Institute of Nigeria (RRIN), Iyanomoh in Obaitan community near Benin City in Edo State and Ogo Ikilibi in Delta State, said the effort was an encouragement for rubber farmers and those involved in rubber business that the Federal Government was returning to agriculture.
