Oyo State Government Says No Death Recorded in Ibadan Building Collapse

The Oyo state government says there was no death recorded in the building collapse incident which occurred in Ibadan, capital of the state, on Friday.
This was disclosed in a statement Saturday by Ayo Arulogun, the state commissioner for information, noting that the wounded were in stable condition in the hospital.

Mr Arulogun said the multi-agency rescue operation team set up by Abiola Ajimobi, the governor, was able to achieve the evacuation of all victims from the building, which was under construction at the time of the incident.

“Upon hearing the news of the incident, the Governor set up a multi-agency rescue team which promptly swung into action, mobilising equipment, materials and personnel,” the commissioner said.
“The team was able to rescue the two victims trapped in the rubble of the collapsed building as three were initially rescued manually and no fatality was recorded in the rescue operation which ended 3.45am today.”
The commissioner pleaded with building construction practitioners to desist from cutting corners and using cheap materials, adding that the incident would be investigated by relevant agencies in the state.
