Ekiti Records 2 Suspected Cases Of Monkey Pox


Ekiti State Government Tuesday said suspected cases of Monkey pox have been recorded in the state.

The cases, it said were discovered in Okemesi Ekiti, in Ekiti West Local Government Area of the state.
The Secretary to the State Government, Dr Modupe Alade, who made the revelation during a press conference heralding the third anniversary of Governor Ayodele Fayose’s government, said the cases are being investigated.

“We have two cases at Okemesi Ekiti. Tests are still being carried out. The victims have been quarantined while their blood samples have been taken to Abuja for laboratory tests. Not until it is confirmed, we can’t come out with any official statement”, she said.

Alade also said the ruling party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is fully prepared for the 2018 governorship poll, with assurances that the party will be victorious based on the performances of Governor Ayodele Fayose in the last three years.

She attributed the feat achieve by the state  in the National Examinations Council(NECO)  in 2016 and 2017 to the robust relationship between  Governor Fayose and teachers.

The SSG revealed that, Fayose government in the last three had expended a sum of N1 billion on Small Scale Industries and women empowerment as a way of banishing poverty out of the state.

She said the state government had made the celebration a low-key one celebration due to the arrest of the commissioner for Finance, Mr. Toyin Ojo and Accountant General, Mrs Yemisi Owolabi by Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over bailout funds to Ekiti.
