FUNAAB VC sues for peace, blames crisis on ‘internal politics’
Professor Olusola Oyewole
The Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of
Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Prof. Olusola
Oyewole, yesterday urged labour unions and
students of the institution to give peace a chance.
Oyewole, who spoke with reporters in Abeokuta,
the Ogun State capital, blamed the crisis rocking the
varsity on “internal politics,” adding that he would
eventually be vindicated.
He spoke just as the university management set up
a committee to look into the causes of the recent
protest by students, which led to the destruction of
property.
The school authorities, which also postponed the
resumption of students indefinitely, said the
decision was aimed at preventing future occurrence
of such unrest.
Aggrieved members of the Senior Staff Association
of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) on Wednesday
shut the vice chancellor’s lodge as well as the Senate
Building during the protest.
